1st Anniversary

Hello,

As the title of this post suggests, I'm happy to announce that my little home based business, Reprieve's Corner, turned 1 year old this month. Yea!

The last twelve months have been full of ups and downs, but I've learned a lot along the way. I've always been a creative person, and I've thoroughly enjoyed being able to embrace this trait. It's fun being able to wake up on my work from home days, and go "what would I like to make today?"

The highlight of the past year has been meeting so many other artisans at the local farmers markets, festivals, and street fairs. We have a really talented group of people living on the west coast! I've enjoyed visiting with the other vendors at the shows and swap shop advice. In addition to being talented, the other vendors are incredibly friendly and helpful.

So, here's to a successful first year and many more to come! Thank you all for your support. It means the world to me!

The Holidays are Right Around the Corner

Hello,

With the holidays right around the corner, please consider buying your gifts from small local businesses or directly through artisans. Etsy (www.Etsy.com) is a great place to find a variety of handmade gifts. Many of the shop owners, myself included, are happy to create custom orders for customers.

I've been lining up holiday shows now that the farmers market season is coming to a close. For now, I'll be selling my handmade jewelry, hand painted wooden signs, hand painted greeting cards, and plush items at the Bandon Old Town Marketplace on Fridays and Saturdays. The marketplace is open from 10 am until 4 pm. It is located in the big green building on the waterfront in Bandon, Oregon. The market will be open twice a week through December 14th, 2013.

I'll continue to update this blog as I confirm the details of other holiday craft shows.

On average, I usually have around 200 items available in my online store www.Etsy.com/shop/ReprievesCorner. This is a great option for those that can't visit my booth in person.

Festival & Farmers Market Season is in Full Swing!

First, I'd like to apologize for not posting updates on this blog for a while.  The local farmers markets started up at the beginning of April. I've been setting up a booth of merchandise at the Coos Bay (Wednesdays), Coquille (Thursdays), and Bandon (Fridays and Saturdays) farmers markets each week. I've also been renting booth space at several of the local festivals and street fairs. It's been a busy past few months!

The Coos Bay Sunday market opened at the beginning of August. Due to the cost of gas, I've decided to stop attending the Coquille market and participate in the Sunday market instead.

In between all of the farmers markets and other events, I've been hard at work in my studio making new items to sell. I have a lot of fun making the items that I sell. I especially enjoy painting the wooden signs and greeting cards. It's fun coming up with messages to paint. I like to have a balance of both funny and serious signs available in my shop.

The following sign is one of my latest. It's a prime example of my sense of humor:

2013 Farmers Market, Street Fair, and Festival Calendar

Now that spring has arrived, it's time to look ahead at the upcoming calendar of local farmers markets, street fairs, and festivals. The following is a list of the shows and events where I'm currently signed up as a vendor:

Weekly--

Coquille Farmers Market
Date: Every Thursday (April through October)
Time: 10 am - 4 pm
Location: the lawn in front of the Coquille Community Building/Library

Bandon Old Town Marketplace
Date: Fridays (April through mid-December)
Time: 10 am - 4 pm
Location: Big Green Building near Bandon Boardwalk
Notes: The market will be held on both Fridays and Saturdays, but I'm only signed up to participate on (most) Fridays this season.

Coos Bay Farmers Market
Date: Wednesdays (May through October)
          Sundays (August through October)
Time: 9 am - 3 pm (Wed's)
          10 am - 2 pm (Sun's)
Location: downtown Coos Bay, Oregon-- across from Visitor Center (Wed) and in the Visitor Center parking lot (Suns)
